Project Profile

Farmers make up 70% of the population in the subdistirct of Tangjung Batu, in Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) district in South Sumatra. In 1982, a 24,000 ha government sugar cane plantation was opened in OKI district. four subdistricts, including 13 villages in Tangjung Batu, lost their traditional lands to this plantation.
